Why Ligo does not translate my message?

Ligo does not translate your message for following reasons:

  • (1) Notice at the top of the screen. If it has 'Ligo Translator' with a shield in front of it (shown in picture below). Ligo does not translate messages in this chat room.

    You must invite Ligo to a group chat and set up language used in the group.

  • (2) If you already set up language in the group chat, you must ensure that the messages you send is not in the language that you selected for 'Translate To'. Ligo does not translate the messages which are already in the language selected for 'Translate To'.

Why the button I clicked does not take me to the Language Setup screen?

Did you click the 'HOW TO SETUP LANGUAGE' button? If yes, you clicked the wrong button and you are in the wrong screen.

Why does not Ligo join my group?

Please make sure that there is no other bot present in the group. LINE only allows one bot at a given time. After the other bot is removed. You can invite Ligo again and it will join the group.

Why language must be set up for each chat room?

Ligo is not a single-language translator which has prefix of what language to translate from and to. It supports more than 100+ languages. Chances are you have friends who speak different languages across chatrooms. That means, for each chatroom, you have to tell Ligo what language you'd like it to translate your messages to. This gives you flexibilities to have different language translations in a number of chatrooms that suited for its members.

You can invite Ligo go to an existing group just the same way you normally invite a friend to a group.

Once you set up language in group, you can change it by typing 'LANGUAGE SETUP' in the group. (or copy text below)


The Language Setup picture like picture below will be displayed.

(If you speak English and chatting with a Japanese person, you should select English for 'Translate from' and Japanese for 'Translate to'. Ligo will translate your message in English to Japanese.)

Tap 'TAP HERE' to change language. Then tap 'Done' button to save the setting.

How do I stop Ligo from asking me to set up language?

When you are newly invited to a group, Ligo persistently asks you to set up language. The process can be irritated when you don't want to use the translation.

You can stop the process by turning off the translation. This tells Ligo that you don't want to use its service. Once you have it turned off, Ligo will not bother you again to set up language for the particular group.

You can set up language for friend. First you have to ask for permission from the friend who you'd like to set up language for.
To ask permission, type '^asking permission. ~en' in the group (or copy text below)

How do I remove setup language permission given to friends?

Once you have given a friend your permission to set up language for you, you can remove it by typing '^see permission. ~en' in the group (or copy text below)

How do I not translate some words in the sentence?

Sometimes, not every word needs translation. You can tell Ligo to ignore a word by surrounding it with '{ }'. Like the example shown below:

In the example above, the words {Penny}, {Go Thai}, {สบายดีไหม} and {How are you} are ignored.

In order for your friend to appear on the list when you are giving a PREMIUM,:

  • Your friend must be in the same group chat that you are in.
  • Your friend must turn on Ligo translation.

How do I give a PREMIUM to a friend?

After you buy a FRIEND PREMIUM, the premium will be shown on the FRIEND PREMIUMS list (shown in picture below).

To give a friend the premium, click 'GIVE'. The dialog like below will be displayed.

Select a friend from the list and then click 'OK' to save the setting. Friend who you select will have unlimited language translation.

How do I give PREMIUM to a group?

After you buy a GROUP PREMIUM, the premium will be shown on the GROUP PREMIUMS list (shown in picture below)

To give a group the premium, click 'GIVE'. The dialog like below will be displayed.

Select a group or chat room from the list and then click 'OK' to save the setting. The members of the group which have been given PREMIUM will have unlimited language translation to use within the group.

How do I update my payment method?

To update your payment method, go to 'MY ACCOUNT' screen. At the top of the screen, you will see the section named 'Your Payment Method'. Click the icon to see the details. (shown in picture below)
